SPRAY FOAM APPLICATION

Spray polyurethane foam insulation, or SPF, must be installed correctly for many very good reasons.  If it is not, many problems will be created that will ultimately caused you a lot of money.  So when hiring a spray foam contractor in Orlando you need to make sure you do your homework and are hiring a reputable company that will perform all work in accordance with what you are paying, but also in strict accordance with Florida Building Code.

Some of the problems that are a consequence of improper spray foam installation are as follows:

• Reduction in the amount of energy savings
• Failure and delamination of the spray foam from the substrate surface
• Failure to pass a home inspection for not meeting Florida Building Code in the event you are selling your home, and the buyer orders a home inspection
  
• Looser and weaker building envelope.

There are some Orlando spray foam insulation contractors that tend to take shortcuts when performing the application, as it saves them money and time which helps their bottom line.  Unfortunately, as their bottom line is being improved through such actions, your bottom line is paying the price.  So Rule #1 when hiring an Orlando spray foam contractor, is to be very clear upfront that you expect the required thickness of the spray foam to meet Florida Building Code, and to achieve the required R-value that you are paying for!

Keep in mind, when investing in spray foam insulation for your home or business, the material itself is approximately 40% of the contractor's cost.  So if he chooses to apply one-half of the promised spray foam, not only will he reduce his cost by 20%, but you will be "out of code' as your spray foam must achieve a certain R-value.
